I first learned of the health benefits of coconut oil 10 years ago while traveling through Thailand. Many Asian cultures have long known the health benefits of ingesting coconut oil, the West has now caught up. I take coconut oil everywhere I travel as an all in one beauty treatment. In this article you will discover 21 unique uses for coconut oil.
Coconut oil as an ingredient can be seen more commonly in everything from cakes to our morning coffee. We know that coconut oil is supposed to be the healthy fat and good for us when ingested, but most don’t know why exactly. Here’s the skinny: When eaten, coconut oil travels directly to the liver, it is used for energy and not stored as fat. It also helps a feeling of satiety. Therefore coconut oil can help us lose weight and not gain fat.
There are more unique uses for coconut oil than weight loss and energy
Most of the fats in coconut oil are saturated but they are in the form of MCTs (Medium Chain Triglycerides, also called MCFAs), which affect the body differently than short and long chain fats. The MCTs are composed of:
Lauric Acid– This beneficial fat makes up 40% of the total fat composition, making it one of nature’s highest natural sources. The body converts lauric acid to monolaurin, which is beneficial for immune function.
Caprylic Acid– Another healthy fat with antibacterial and antimicrobial properties.
Capric Acid– This converts to monocaprin in the body and has immune boosting and antimicrobial properties.

I, like many get occasional hurt burn and reflux, which can be genetic. A unique use for coconut oil is to help aid digestion when taken regularly can assist with this as well. Take 3 x spoons daily to notice improvement.

Coconut oil is not only great for energy and can assist with weight loss, coconut oil is an essential health and beauty supplement and should be included in your kitchen cupboard, beauty cabinet and travel case.

Hi Sommer!
What’s the recipe measurements for your coconut toothpaste please?
Thanks,
Brento.
Brento! Really easy- keep 2 small bowls in your bathroom cabinet (the kind you would put soy sauce or a condiment in) one with coconut oil, one with baking soda. Dip your brush in the oil, then into the BS and brush away. Both are anti-microbial but change every week. I missed the taste of mint so I add a few drops of peppermint oil to the coconut oil. My teeth are whiter than ever and even less sensitive
